A Medical Analysis of the Lincoln Family: Cures for the First Family—Then & Now

Join Civil War medical reenactor Dr. Trevor Steinbach for a special evening program in the historic barn at the George Spangler Farm & Field Hospital.

Explore the medical history of the Lincoln Family—in and out of the White House. Discover interesting facts like how President Abraham Lincoln almost died of a faulty gas jet in the White House in September 1864. And learn how Mary Lincoln’s mood swings might have been caused by diabetes. Dr. Steinbach will feature stories you may not have heard before about the medical facts and history of our 16th President and his family.

Tickets are required in advance. The gate opens at 5:30 p.m. for ticket holders to explore the historic site.
