Alexander Mitchell, Berklee College of Music graduate, is an acoustic multi-instrumentalist who plays fiddle, mandolin, and guitar. Alex started playing fiddle in 1978 after hearing bluegrass music. Since then, he has been cultivating such diverse styles as Appalachian, bluegrass, Celtic, Klezmer, traditional roots dance music, ballroom, swing and jazz. Along with freelancing with many DC/Baltimore musicians, Alex also books several of his bands for weddings, corporate events, and private parties. Alex has done a national tour of Woodie Guthrie’s American Song with the Missouri Repertory Theatre, appeared in Ted Turner’s movie, “Gettysburg,” as well as music for the soundtrack and numerous other stage and theatrical productions. Currently Alexander travels the country playing at various venues.
