Encounters with History: History of the US Navy During the Civil War

Join historian Dan Orr at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center for “History of the US Navy During the Civil War,” an Encounters with History series program.

Lincoln was often frustrated with the lack of aggressiveness with some of his Army generals. Unfortunately, he was also similarly frustrated by some of his Navy commanders. Dan Orr will discuss the Civil War Navy, known and little-known facts, interesting naval battles and fascinating naval technologies such as ironclads and submarines.

This program will take place from 9 a.m. until Noon in the Ford Motor Company Fund Education Center in the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center located at 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg.
