Walk the grounds, hear the stories and feel the emotions of life—and death—at this family farm suddenly transformed into a Civil War field hospital in July 1863.

Interact with living historians on Civil War medicine, the role of surgeons, caregivers and civilians, and the soldiers’ experiences.

The George Spangler Farm & Field Hospital is:

• The best surviving example of a corps-level field hospital used during the Battle of Gettysburg.
• A strategic location on the battlefield and Union artillery reserve’s staging area.
• Meticulously renovated and restored, the site features original buildings from the battle to inspire and explore.

Admission is included with your ticket to attractions at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center—just minutes away. Friends of Gettysburg receive complimentary admission to the historic site.

Open Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays, 10am-3pm, June 11 through Aug. 15, 2021, and on the Battle Anniversary, July 1-3.
