The Civil War formed the basis for the origin of the Medal of Honor, America’s highest military decoration, established in 1861. The award recognizes distinguished acts of valor by American service men and women. Acts of valor were numerous at the turning point of the Civil War during the Gettysburg Campaign.
In the lead-up to the pivotal Battle of Gettysburg and in the immediate aftermath, seventy-two men were awarded the Medal of Honor. Unknown soldiers lost in time were given the honor, and some of the most intense fighting during the entire war was recognized. Author James Gindlesperger presents the harrowing stories of the Medal of Honor at Gettysburg.
Meet James at The Heartfelt History Gift Shoppe on Saturday, 11/18 from 1:30pm – 4:30pm
