The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC) kicks off our Spring 2023 Perspective Lecture Series by featuring local author and Penn State – Altoona Assistant Teaching Professor Mr. Jared Frederick.

In this lecture, Professor Frederick draws on his books, Fierce Valor: The True Story of Ronald Speirs and his Band of Brothers and Hang Tough, The WWII Letters and Artifacts of Major Dick Winters to develop a complex portrait of Speirs and Winters through their abilities to successfully command and lead solders. Major Dick Winters, from New Holland and Palmyra PA was a member of the 101st Airborne Division who gained international acclaim when the tales of he and his men were depicted in the celebrated book and miniseries Band of Brothers. Speirs was an iconic commander of Easy Company during WWII whose courage in three foreign conflicts was match only by his devotion to duty. The lecture is the first of four spring lectures for the theme “Leadership” designed to educate USAWC students and the general public.

The event is free and open to the public.

We are located 950 Soldiers Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013 which is not on the Carlisle Barracks post which provides greater ease of access to our facilities.
