Walk in the footsteps of history! See the places where freedom seekers sought refuge from slavery in the years before the Civil War. Join us for a one hour tour of the McAllister’s Mill Site on Rock Creek. The tour is a one-half hour walk over gentle terrain. Tours are conducted by the Historic Preservation Society of Gettysburg – Adams County (HGAC). Learn about the historic significance of the Underground Railroad and hear the stories of those escaping slavery. Discover a part of the Battlefield that is seen by only a small number of people! See the location of the famous mill pond featured on the History Channel TV program “Battlefield Detectives” and recognized by the National Park Service as part of the UGGR Network to Freedom.
