There is so much to see, do, and explore at Children of Gettysburg 1863®. Winter is the perfect time to experience the adventure in Gettysburg’s most family-friendly children’s history museum. Visit on select holidays in February and March and enjoy adventurous family programming and activities, in addition to the interactive museum exhibits.

Open Thursdays through Sundays, noon until 5 p.m. for winter hours, Children of Gettysburg 1863® offers families a unique, interactive history adventure. The children’s history museum offers special events inside the museum on the following holidays:

Presidents Day Special Opening with Presidential Trivia | Monday, Feb. 20
Children of Gettysburg 1863 has a special opening of the children’s history museum in honor of Presidents Day noon until 5 p.m. Test your presidential knowledge with a trivia contest at 1 p.m. Regular winter hours of Thursday through Sunday, noon until 5 p.m. resume on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023.

St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Search | Friday-Sunday, March 17-19
Dozens of leprechauns are hidden throughout the children’s history museum. Throughout the weekend, visitors can search the museum high and low to help find as many leprechauns as possible to receive a prize. (One prize per child.)

The interactive children’s history museum tells the engaging stories of children, teens and young adults who lived in the town of Gettysburg and the surrounding area during and after the Battle of Gettysburg. Families have the opportunity to experience engaging first-hand accounts from a number of young residents from 1863 including William Bayly, Albertus McCreary, Sadie Bushman, and Tillie Pierce.

The winter holiday events and activities are free with a ticket to Children of Gettysburg 1863®. Admission tickets are currently free for children/youth ages 12 and younger when accompanied by a ticketed adult.

Tickets are available by phone, 717-334-2436, online at GettysburgFoundation.org/Children-of-Gettysburg-1863, at the Ticket Counter inside the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center and on-site at Children of Gettysburg 1863® located at 451 Baltimore Street in downtown Gettysburg.
