King George and the March of Folly

Literature, media and history festivals tend to focus on the triumph of the patriots on our side of the Atlantic. But what was going on in London? Leaders who were arrogant, ignorant and vain put the world’s great superpower on the path to disaster. This strange array of characters includes William Pitt, Charles Townshend, the namesakes of Wilkes-Barre, the Earl of Sandwich and “crazy” King George himself. Licensed Battlefield Guide Ralph Siegel, a co-founder of the “Patriots Week” Revolutionary War program in Trenton, offers a lively slideshow presentation on England’s “March of Folly” as explained by legendary historian Barbara Tuchman.
