The Lincoln Cemetery Remembrance Day program remembers and honors our fallen veterans whose bodies lie in Lincoln Cemetery.
On Saturday, November 16th at 3pm, LCPA President and Historian Jean Green opens the ceremony with an introduction and welcoming remarks. Lenwood Sloan, Executive Director of the International Institute of Peace Through Tourism, delivers the keynote address and Board Members Yvonne Myers and Andrew Dalton will also speak.
The program includes Posting of the Colors, a welcome by Gettysburg Mayor Rita Frealing, an invocation by CPL. Albert EL, and a performance by the 46th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment before a Firing of the Volley by the 3rd USCT Regiment Infantry, and concludes with Taps.
The Lincoln Cemetery Project Association was established to preserve and protect Gettysburg’s only surviving Black cemetery, located on Long Lane. More than 450 citizens of Gettysburg and Adams County are buried in the cemetery.
