With adventures to suit every budget, Gettysburg and Adams County businesses offer plenty of packages to help visitors create their dream vacations.
The Gettysburg Heritage Trails Program is an easy to follow program that will engage your group for a weekend resulting in several patches earned. The program features hikes along the Billy Yank Trail, the Johnny Reb Trail, the Historic Gettysburg Trail as well as visits to the Eisenhower National Historic Site and the National Park Museum & Visitor Center.
In addition to historical hiking, Gettysburg is in close proximity to several State Parks. Your group can include experiences at both Caledonia and Pine Grove Furnace State Parks in Pennsylvania. Just a few miles south, your scouts can also experience Catoctin Mountain Park and Cunningham Falls State Park in Maryland. These are excellent add-ons for your visit.
Camping is available at the National Park in the McMillan Woods Youth Campground mid-April through the end of October. This site is extremely rustic; showers can be arranged through the Gettysburg YWCA for a nominal fee. The Daniel Lady Farm, owned and operated by the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Association, also provides camping for scout groups upon request. Your group may choose to select from a variety of local campgrounds all with tent and cabin camping.
In the winter, Gettysburg serves as a destination to earn their Snow Sports Badge. Liberty Mountain Resort offers skiing and snowboarding.
