Gettysburg Historic Town Walking Tour – Downtown 1863

On Monday afternoons join the Reluctant Witnesses for a walking tour of the Center portion of the town, the heartbeat of 1863 Gettysburg.

Join the Reluctant Witnesses for a walking tour of the Center portion of the town, the heartbeat of 1863 Gettysburg where we examine the accounts of several Gettysburg civilians who lived in town. They were reluctant witnesses to the Battle of Gettysburg. We discuss the existing structures, what the town looked like in 1863, and describe the events of July 1863 and how those townspeople remembered them.

This is a leisurely paced walk on paved roads; wheelchairs are manageable.
The walking tour lasts two hours.

The tour starts outside 11 Lincoln Square and meets by the Statue of President Lincoln. The Tour then proceeds around the center of the town to visit important landmarks from 1863 and some of the historic streets before returning to the Square.

Parking Suggestions
We recommend Race Horse Alley Parking Garage behind the Gettysburg Hotel or parking on an NPS lot and taking the Lincoln Line trolley into town.
