In 2022, Adams County formed an official America 250th Steering Commission to guide local efforts in commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary. This group of community leaders, historians, planners, and storytellers represents the organizations and voices that make Gettysburg and Adams County unique.
Together, they’re working to ensure our region’s role in America’s story — past, present, and future — is honored, shared, and strengthened through meaningful programs, partnerships, and experiences.
To engage the Adams County community in honoring the people and events that shaped our nation; to support initiatives that inspire visitors and residents alike; and to create lasting economic and cultural impact while preserving our local legacy for generations to come.
The America 250th Steering Commission has created several committees to guide Adams County’s commemoration, focusing on events, heritage, marketing, and community engagement. Each committee is supported by local leaders and volunteers dedicated to ensuring that Gettysburg’s story continues to inspire future generations.
