From Resistance to Rebellion, 1763–1775

Join the Adams County Library at the Gettysburg branch for From Resistance to Rebellion, 1763–1775 on February 19, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM.

In this program, historian Leon Reed examines the series of events and policies that led the American colonies from unrest to open rebellion. Participants will explore England’s missteps, including tax measures, the quartering of troops, suppression of colonial organizations, the Stamp Acts, and the Boston Massacre.

The program also highlights the role of colonial resistance groups and the efforts of Paul Revere in mobilizing the colonies, ultimately setting the stage for the outbreak of war on April 19, 1775.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the political, social, and strategic factors that propelled the colonies toward revolution.
