Garden Party in the Demonstration Gardens 2026 Celebration
August 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This open house invites the community to explore gardens inspired by the year 1776 and learn how gardening was practiced during the late 18th century. Activities will include guided garden tours, hands-on demonstrations reflecting historic gardening methods, and family-friendly experiences such as children’s crafts.
The event will be led by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners, trained volunteers who educate and engage the community about proper gardening practices. In addition to highlighting historical techniques, Master Gardeners will share information on how gardening has evolved and advanced over time.
The event will take place in the Demonstration Gardens at the Agricultural and Natural Resources Center, located at 670 Old Harrisburg Road in Gettysburg.
This program represents education and celebration by offering an opportunity for the community to reflect on gardening practices of the late 1700s while recognizing the continued innovation and knowledge that shape gardening today, in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
