As the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of American independence, this program offers an opportunity to reflect on the Revolutionary era from both a national and local perspective. In 1776, the area that would become Gettysburg was part of Pennsylvania’s western frontier, yet residents were closely connected to the events unfolding across the colonies. Local citizens followed the news, debated independence, and answered the call to service.
The program highlights how the people of central Pennsylvania experienced the Revolution and contributed to the nation’s founding while placing their story within the broader context of America’s fight for independence.
This program is free for Gettysburg History Members and $10 for general admission. Tickets are available for purchase in advance.
