Guest Artist Recital: Kate Boyd

Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College presents a performance of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Das Jahr by pianist Kate Boyd on Thursday, February 19, at 6:30 p.m. in Paul Recital Hall, Schmucker Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Kate Boyd is known for thoughtful performances and a strong commitment to underrepresented and contemporary composers. She has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, Schubert’s birth house in Vienna, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, and the Musikhalle Hamburg, with appearances across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia.

Her recordings include John Cage: Sonatas and Interludes for Prepared Piano and Music for the End of Winter, which features works by five American composers. She is currently presenting and recording a series devoted to Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Das Jahr and related works by women composers.

Boyd is also an active chamber musician and a founding member of the New York-based Oracle Trio, which performed throughout the United States for ten years.
