Part of the Official Juneteenth 2026 Programming
Honor the lives, legacy, and contributions of Gettysburg’s Black community at a Juneteenth Commemoration at Lincoln Cemetery on Friday, June 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The program includes remarks reflecting on the significance of Juneteenth and the importance of preserving local Black history. During the event, newly installed National Register of Historic Places signage recognizing Lincoln Cemetery will be unveiled.
As dusk falls, attendees will participate in an illumination ceremony, placing lights along the graves of those buried in the cemetery, including veterans, community leaders, and families whose stories helped shape Gettysburg’s history. The ceremony concludes with the playing of Taps.
Following the program, attendees may walk across the street to Gettysburg Rec Park for an outdoor screening of the Civil War film Glory as part of the Juneteenth Cinema Under the Stars program.
