Annual Gettysburg Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

The Gettysburg Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony returns on Monday, May 25, continuing a powerful tradition that has honored fallen service members since 1867—making it one of the oldest continuously running Memorial Day observances in the nation.

Organized by the Gettysburg Joint Veterans Memorial Day Commission, the afternoon begins with a parade through the historic streets of Gettysburg, offering a meaningful backdrop for remembrance in a town forever tied to sacrifice and service. Typically stepping off at 2 p.m. from Lefever Street, the procession moves through downtown along East Middle Street and Baltimore Street before arriving at the Soldiers’ National Cemetery.

Following the parade, a solemn ceremony takes place at the Rostrum within the cemetery, where attendees gather to reflect and honor those who gave their lives in service to the country.

Deeply rooted in history and tradition, Gettysburg’s Memorial Day observance offers a moving and memorable way to pay tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
