Sacrifice at the Brickyard: Coster’s Brigade at Gettysburg

Mark the anniversary of the opening day of the Battle of Gettysburg with Sacrifice at the Brickyard: Coster’s Brigade at Gettysburg, a special one-time walking tour on July 1, 2026. Departing from the Gettysburg Hotel at 3:30 PM, this 90-minute Licensed Town Guide tour follows the route of Colonel Coster’s Brigade as it marched north of town on July 1, 1863, in a desperate effort to slow the Confederate breakthrough.

Participants will walk the same ground traveled by these outnumbered Union soldiers and gain a deeper understanding of their sacrifice and the critical role they played during the Battle of Gettysburg. Their actions helped buy valuable time for Union forces during one of the most important battles of the Civil War.

As America approaches the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding, this tour offers a meaningful opportunity to explore a battlefield widely recognized as pivotal to America’s survival. Through firsthand stories and on-the-ground interpretation, attendees will discover how the events of Gettysburg shaped the future of the United States.

Tickets are limited, and this tour is offered only once. Reservations must be submitted more than 60 minutes before departure. This program is expected to fill quickly, so advance registration is strongly encouraged.
