Tavern Tour

Gettysburg Licensed Town Guides presents the Tavern Tour on Friday evenings in historic downtown Gettysburg. Beginning at 6:00 PM in front of the Gettysburg Hotel, this guided walking tour explores the sites of some of Gettysburg’s most historic taverns while sharing unusual and entertaining stories rooted in the town’s rich past.

Led by a Gettysburg Licensed Town Guide, the experience uncovers lesser-known chapters of local history, including tales involving presidents, devastating fires, Civil War activity, Temperance societies, Medal of Honor recipients, balloon rides, and other colorful events that unfolded in and around Gettysburg’s legendary watering holes. The tour blends fascinating storytelling with the atmosphere of the town’s historic streets, creating an engaging evening for history enthusiasts and visitors alike.

While no food or beverages are included during the tour, participants receive exclusive offers from several downtown partners at the conclusion of the walk. Vouchers include 10% off food at the Garryowen Irish Pub and the Sign of the Buck, 50% off a wine or cider flight at Reid’s Winery Tasting Room & Cider House, and a complimentary house wine or draft beer at the Gettysburg Hotel.

The Tavern Tour runs on Fridays through September 30 and begins in front of the Gettysburg Hotel in downtown Gettysburg.
