The Original Civil War Ball Returns to Gettysburg for an Elegant Evening of History and Dance
Step into the music, fashion, and social traditions of the Civil War era during The Original Civil War Ball on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the Eisenhower Hotel in Gettysburg. Beginning at 8:00 p.m., this long-running tradition brings together history enthusiasts, reenactors, dancers, and visitors for an evening inspired by 19th-century ballroom culture in one of America’s most historic communities.
Live music from the Philadelphia Brigade Band sets the tone as the Victorian Dance Ensemble leads classic period dances suitable for experienced dancers and newcomers alike. Period attire adds to the atmosphere but remains entirely optional, making the event accessible to anyone who enjoys history, music, and a memorable night out. The evening also features a photo booth, cash bar, fabulous door prizes, and the popular Ladies Cake Walk.
Held in Gettysburg as the nation continues commemorating the America 250 anniversary, the ball offers a meaningful opportunity to experience traditions that reflect the social life of the Civil War era while celebrating the enduring legacy of American history. Proceeds benefit Gettysburg National Military Park Monument Preservation, helping preserve the monuments and stories that continue to educate future generations.
Advance tickets cost $30 per person or $55 per couple. Admission at the door is $35 per person or $65 per couple, subject to availability.
For ticket information, contact Capt. Ken L. Freshley at (440) 336-1266 or [email protected].
