Get the GuideSeptember 17th
The historic Majestic Theater on Carlisle Street, just a block off Lincoln Square, brings audiences a unique and entertaining experience on September 17 when they present Harold Lloyd’s Safety Last! (1923) This silent film tells the story of a young department store clerk who leaves his small country town and heads to the big city to get a job. As soon as he makes it big, his sweetheart will join him and marry him. The iconic “man hanging from the clock” scene can be seen on the Majestic’s big screen with the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra performing the score live from the pit.
With 765 screenings across 48 states and 7 countries to its credit, The Paragon Ragtime Orchestra (PRO) is one of the world’s foremost silent film accompanists. From Hollywood (the American Cinematheque) to Chicago (the Ravinia Festival) to New York (Lincoln Center) – PRO leads the way in designing, producing, and performing silent film programs for delighted modern audiences of all ages. PRO’s programs are real shows inspired by the glamorous presentational style of America’s “Movie Palaces” of the 1910s and ’20s.
