Step back in time during Living History Weekends at George Spangler Farm & Field Hospital on Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, 2026. Presented by the Gettysburg Foundation, this immersive summer program brings the best-preserved field hospital from the Battle of Gettysburg to life through military camps, demonstrations, and personal stories.
Visitors can explore authentic camp settings, watch engaging demonstrations, and interact with knowledgeable historians portraying soldiers and civilians. The experience offers a closer look at Civil War medicine, military life, and the people connected to this important Gettysburg historic site. Families, history enthusiasts, and curious visitors of all ages can enjoy the hands-on atmosphere throughout the day.
A timed shuttle and admission ticket are required. Shuttles depart every 20 minutes from the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The final shuttle to the farm leaves at 1:40 p.m., and the last return shuttle to the Museum & Visitor Center departs the site at 3:20 p.m.
All dates depend on favorable weather and may be canceled in the event of severe conditions. Additional event details and ticket information are available through the Gettysburg Foundation.
