Adams County Library System presents Author Talk: Gerald Patnode – The Sterling Defense on Wednesday, September 2, from 6:00–7:00 PM at 140 Baltimore St., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
Author Gerald Patnode discusses his historical fiction novel, The Sterling Defense, which is based on a true story. During the presentation, Patnode shares the real events that inspired the book while reading selected excerpts and offering a behind-the-scenes look at his research. Attendees also see photographs of Navassa Island, including the ruins connected to the events of the 1890s, along with historical documents that bring the story to life.
This engaging program blends history and literature, giving readers and history enthusiasts a chance to explore the people, places, and events behind the novel. Held in Gettysburg, the presentation offers a unique opportunity to discover how historical research shapes compelling storytelling and preserves lesser-known chapters of American history.
