Gettysburg Camp 112, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, presents a grave visitation and honor guard ceremony honoring SGT Daniel Reigle on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11 a.m. to noon at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Littlestown, PA.
Reigle, an Adams County native born in Mount Joy Township in 1841, served with Company F, 87th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, known as the Gettysburg Independent Blues. He remains the only Union veteran from Adams County to receive the Medal of Honor. Reigle earned the honor for capturing a Confederate flag during the Battle of Cedar Creek on October 19, 1864.
The program includes an oral history presented by Dr. Stephen Law, additional guest speakers, the posting of the Colors, and a three-volley salute by the Gettysburg Independent Blues.
