Gettysburg History presents the community premiere of Gettysburg 1863 on Thursday, November 12, at Gateway Theater in Gettysburg. Multiple screenings begin at 7 p.m., giving more members of the community the opportunity to experience the film together on the big screen.
Written and directed by Bo Brinkman, Gettysburg 1863 is an intimate Civil War drama that brings the Battle of Gettysburg and its aftermath to life through the experiences of civilians caught in the crossfire. When a young man leaves Gettysburg to join the cavalry, he believes the war remains far from home. Instead, Confederate forces invade the town in the summer of 1863, placing the woman he loves and her family in grave danger.
As Gettysburg’s community binds together amid loss and hardship, families cling to faith, compassion, and one another, while the soldier faces his own struggle to survive far from home. Told through parallel journeys, Gettysburg 1863 explores love tested by war, moral courage in the face of injustice, and the power of hope and joy even in the darkest times.
Each ticket includes a screening time and theater number. Concessions and free on-site parking are available. Screening ticket holders can also attend an exclusive autograph signing with the cast. No public admission is available for the signing.
Tickets are $15 for youth ages 15 and under, $20 for Gettysburg History members, and $25 for general admission.
