Jack’s Mountain Bridge

Only 1,600 covered bridges remain in the world, one of which is the Jack’s Mountain Bridge, located on Jack’s Mountain Road southwest of Fairfield, PA. Jack’s Mountain Bridge is a one lane structure crossing over Tom’s Creek and is the only covered bridge in Adams County that is still used for daily motor vehicle traffic. It is also the only covered bridge in Pennsylvania that uses traffic lights to control the flow of traffic.

Constructed in 1894 by Joseph Smith, the bridge spans 75 feet with a width of 14 feet-6 inches. It is owned by the state of Pennsylvania and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
