The Steinwehr Avenue Business District, located in the heart of historic Gettysburg, is lined with lodging, restaurants, shoppes, and historical attractions- for every budget and every interest. Walk out your hotel door to over a dozen restaurants, ranging from fast food to ice cream to fine dining and everything in between. Before retiring for the evening, take a ghost tour down the street and decide for yourself whether you believe the stories. Walk through the National Cemetery where Abraham Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address and reflect on how far our nation has come. If you need a break from history, spend the afternoon wandering in and out of the local shoppes to browse their unique merchandise.
Steinwehr Avenue is the corridor that connects a large portion of the Gettysburg Battlefield to the rest of town. When entering Steinwehr Avenue from the south, you will drive directly through the Third Day’s Battlefield and see where Pickett led his ill-fated charge. Enter from the north and you’re able to see the picturesque downtown area and imagine what it looked like in 1863 while the Battle raged on around the sleepy town.
The Steinwehr Avenue Business District is conveniently located near most of the major historical attractions in Gettysburg- including the Gettysburg National Cemetery, Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center and the Cyclorama.
