Carlisle, Pennsylvania is the home of Carlisle Events and Carlisle Auctions, host and promoter of some of the largest classic and collector car events in the country. Carlisle Events was one of the first companies in the United States organized specifically to conduct and promote events for the collector car and truck hobby, with a focus on post-war (WWII) era vehicles. Carlisle Events’ first event was known as Post-War ’74 and took place September 26, 1974. Within three years, a similar spring event was added (Spring Carlisle) and eight years after the initial event in Carlisle, Corvettes at Carlisle was launched.
Fast forward nearly 50 years and the Carlisle Fairgrounds and Carlisle Expo Center are meccas for collector car enthusiasts all over the world. To date, Carlisle Events hosts or is part of 10 events and four collector car auctions.
Carlisle Events’ schedule is what it is today due to the demand for all things collector car and family fun. Events have evolved from “cars in a field” to destination activities for individuals and families from around the world.
In all, more than a half a million guests visit shows promoted by Carlisle Events annually. The Carlisle-based events bring in $98 million annually to the local economy in Central Pennsylvania and the spring show is the organization’s biggest draw of the year with nearly 100,000 enthusiasts converging on the region.
It’s easy to be involved in all facets of what Carlisle Events and Carlisle Auctions does. On the car show side, you can attend as a vendor (selling items), as a participant (showing cars), or as a spectator/attendee (buying items or looking at show cars). Anyone interested in showing a car can save 10% if registered more than 45 days prior to the show. Spectator/attendee tickets are also discounted online in advance of an event, plus kids 12 and under are free, making it even easier for a family-fun themed weekend in central Pennsylvania! On the auction side, Carlisle Auctions promote four events: two in Carlisle and two in Lakeland Florida. There are three great ways to bid; in person, online, and on the phone. Vehicles spanning decades of production are accepted, with a heavy focus on muscle cars and trucks.
