Orvis Hill Country Shooting Grounds and Sporting Clays Course is open to the public. Located in the rolling hills of southern Pennsylvania in the town of Blue Ridge Summit, Orvis Hill Country is just 25 minutes southwest of Gettysburg.

Orvis Hill Country offers a 15-station course that has been updated with new traps and beautiful new cages. For when you don’t have time to shoot the full course, Orvis Hill Country also offers a 5-Stand.

Wingshooting School at Orvis Hill Country offers exceptional wingshooting instruction in either a one or a two-day program. Orvis Hill Country encompasses more than 500 acres devoted to sporting clays and wingshooting pursuits. Spend one or two full days shooting, including, in the two-day school, an afternoon on the sporting clays course accompanied by experienced Orvis shotgun shooting instructors. From first-timers to accomplished wingshooters, everyone is welcome at the Orvis Hill Country shotgun shooting school: if you’ve ever had the desire to raise a fine, handcrafted shotgun to your cheek and fire a perfect shot, there’s no better place to learn how.

Must be at least 12 years old to participate.

You’ll cover it all at the Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania Wingshooting School:

  • Basic shotgun safety
  • How to mount a shotgun so you will shoot exactly where you’re looking
  • How to shoot all types of clays scenarios: going away, crossing, low incomers, singles and doubles
  • Proper stance
  • Proper shotgun fit

The Orvis Wingshooting Schools were the first of their kind in the United States, and have been offering shooters the finest wingshooting and hunting instruction for over twenty-five years.

Based on the English Churchill method, our instinctive approach to shotgunning offers both the novice and the seasoned veteran a complete shooting system that can be used for upland and waterfowl hunting and sporting clays. The fundamentals of the Orvis system include stance, footwork, gun handling, swing, visual concentration, proper gun mount and correct fit of the gun stock.
