Danger & Courage (Southern-End Town Tour)

Enjoy your time in Gettysburg by reserving a walking tour with a Town Guide. We are open 7 days a week and offer a large array of tours. All of our tours are uniquely designed by each Guide and we use historic photographs and actual civilian accounts to relate the events that occurred in the town.

On the Danger & Courage Tour, discover how the south end of town was a “no man’s land” during the Battle of Gettysburg. Civilians on lower Baltimore Street and Steinwehr Avenue were trapped in the crossfire between Union and Confederate troops. On this tour you will hear about the tragic death of Jennie Wade, how civilians survived the battle, the fighting between the two sides in the streets, the aftermath of the battle, presidential visits, and some of Gettysburg’s early history.
