Upper Adams Celebrates America’s 250th

The Upper Adams communities of Biglerville Borough, Arendtsville Borough, Bendersville Borough, Butler Township, Menallen Township, and Tyrone Township come together to celebrate the historic 250th anniversary of America. Upper Adams County invites guests to celebrate and strengthen community bonds while reflecting on our nation’s past; to recognize the contributions of all Americans; and, to envision a bright future for the next generation and beyond.

Activities include a parade and flag-burning ceremony to honor our servicemen and women, as well as a car and tractor show, live bands, and food trucks.

A U.S. flag retirement ceremony will honor servicemen, servicewomen, their families, and the surrounding communities and pay tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedoms. The Adams County Allied Veterans will conduct the ceremony, while the local Apple Core Band performs patriotic songs including the National Anthem. Additionally, the local Boy Scout troop will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and hold the flags throughout the ceremony, with 18 Honor Guard members participating in the event.

The parade, which kicks off at 1pm, includes live bands, fire trucks, and local and state officials and leads up to all the family fun at Oakside Park at 2pm.

Upper Adams County invites everyone to be a part of the celebration, to be a part of something special, and to become part of the community.
