A Field of Remembrance

Gettysburg National Military Park presents A Field of Remembrance at the Eternal Light Peace Memorial from Thursday, November 12, through Monday, November 23, 2026. Thousands of American flags surround the memorial, creating a powerful tribute to those affected by the Battle of Gettysburg.

Created by the Gettysburg Foundation, the display commemorates the more than 51,000 Americans who were killed, wounded, captured, or reported missing during the battle. Each sponsored flag honors the fallen while supporting preservation and education efforts conducted in partnership with the National Park Service.

Visitors can walk among the flags, reflect on the human cost of the Civil War, and experience one of Gettysburg’s most meaningful annual commemorations. The flag installation remains free and open to the public throughout the display period.

Flag sponsorships are available through Veterans Day.
