The Adams County Library System presents Revolutionary Reads, a special book club celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States, on January 8, 2026, at 2:00 PM and February 12, 2026, at 2:00 PM. Participants are invited to bring a snack and beverage and join in thoughtful discussion comparing and contrasting historical fiction and nonfiction works focused on the American Revolution.
On January 8, attendees may read The Radicalism of the American Revolution by Gordon S. Wood and/or Rise to Rebellion by Jeff Shaara, with copies available for pick-up at the Gettysburg Library beginning in December.
On February 12, the selections are Black Patriots and Loyalists by Alan Gilbert and/or Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson.
Participants may choose one or both books to read and discuss.
This program promotes education and preservation of the historical context surrounding the founding of the United States while celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. By exploring multiple perspectives on the Revolution, Revolutionary Reads encourages thoughtful engagement with history and fosters a deeper understanding of America’s formative years.
