An Evening with the Painting

An Evening with the Painting offers an immersive, after-hours exploration of the Gettysburg Cyclorama at the Museum & Visitor Center in Gettysburg. The program traces the Cyclorama’s origins as a powerful 19th-century visual medium while examining the creation, symbolism, preservation, and lasting impact of this renowned work of art.

The experience provides a rare close-up look at the painting and the conservation efforts that restored its dramatic scale and original visual impact. Exclusive access to the Cyclorama platform and an under-diorama perspective reveal details not typically seen during a standard visit, while an interactive discussion explores the artistic techniques, historical storytelling, and preservation work behind the landmark painting.

Programs take place in the Ford Education Center and on the Cyclorama Platform at the Museum & Visitor Center. Scheduled dates include Saturdays, September 5 and 26, from 5 to 7 p.m.; Saturdays, October 10 and 24, from 5 to 7 p.m.; Friday, November 13, with sessions from 4 to 6 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, December 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.
