Celebrating Military Heroes takes place at 1:00 p.m. on November 14, 2026, at the Adams County Library in Gettysburg, located at 140 Baltimore Street. The event features a historical presentation honoring American soldiers from the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and World War II.
Historian Leon Reed, the fourth-great-grandson of Revolutionary War veteran Jeremiah Lott, will portray Lott and share his experiences serving in major campaigns from 1776 through the end of the war. The program is based on family stories passed down through Lott’s son and later researched for accuracy.
The presentation also includes the stories of Reed’s two-great-grandfather, Corporal Morgan Snyder of the 55th Ohio, who fought in several key Civil War battles including Gettysburg, and Sgt. Frank Lembo, a Silver Star recipient who served with Patton’s Third Army during World War II.
Designed especially for students ages 8 to 14, the program helps audiences learn about the lives of everyday soldiers and the sacrifices made across generations.
Celebrating Military Heroes represents education and celebration in 2026 by preserving lesser-known personal stories of military service. The presentation will be recorded and shared with teachers, students, and the public as a lasting educational resource.
