Civil War Medicine Symposium

The Civil War Medicine Symposium, presented by the Gettysburg Foundation, takes place at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center in the Ford Education Center. Running from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., with check-in beginning at 7:45 a.m., the program is offered with both in-person and virtual attendance options.

The symposium explores the critical role of medicine during the Civil War, focusing on the fight behind the lines to save lives. Presentations examine caregivers, medical practices and equipment, trauma care, disease, and the impact of field relief organizations.

Reservations are required by April 22. Members of the Blue & Gray Hospital Association and Friends of Gettysburg receive a discounted rate, applied at checkout when registering online.
