Gettysburg College’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion invites the community to a free public screening of Shirley, starring Regina King. The film explores the life and legacy of Shirley Chisholm – the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress and the first woman to seek the Democratic nomination for President. The screening highlights Chisholm’s historic trail blazing, her fight against misogynoir, and her enduring impact on American political life.
