2022 Winter Fitness Hike – Michaux State Forest
Hike your way to better health with The Physical Fitness Task Force’s guided Winter Fitness Hikes! These fully-guided hikes are open to beginner and seasoned hikers; we will take breaks as necessary and maintain a moderate group pace. We will follow CDC guidelines for outdoor activities that are in effect at the time of the hike. Trails may be uneven or muddy. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring a water bottle. Sunday, March 27th, 1:30 PM. 3.5 miles. The Trout Loop, Tom’s Creek, Michaux State Forest, Fairfield.
From Gettysburg take Route 116 West through the town of Fairfield. At the end of town, just across from the large school complex, take the road forking to the right called Iron Springs Road. While on Iron Springs Road you will be following Toms creek. Go several miles and turn right onto Gum Springs Road. (Note: this turn is hard to see). Then turn right onto Mt. Hope Road and continue for about 8/10th mile to the DCNR parking area on the left. Lattitude: 39.7829; Longitude: -77.4368. This is a new hike through the woods of Michaux for this group. Depending on weather, there can be wet spots on the trail. Rated as easy to moderate.
