Explaining Away the Myths of Civil War Medicine: Living historian Rusty Dicks, “Civil War Surgeon,” brings to the G.A.R. Hall his massive collection of historical artifacts and reproduction items to introduce the audience to a better understanding of some of the medical practices used during the Civil War. Dicks has been “performing surgery” for more than 20 years. In past years he has portrayed a surgeon with the 83rd Pennsylvania Volunteers.
