Remembrance Day Illumination

Held in commemoration of the Gettysburg National Cemetery dedication in November 1863, this solemn event features a luminary candle on all of the 3,512 Civil War soldiers’ graves. Names of the fallen soldiers are read throughout the evening.
Donate: Support the Gettysburg Foundation with a heartfelt donation to the Remembrance Illumination by sponsoring a candle in honor or memory of a loved one. Sponsorships will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 28, 2022.
Volunteer: Volunteers help set up candles, greet visitors at the entrance gates, read the names of the Civil War soldiers buried in the Gettysburg National Cemetery and clean up at the end of the event. Volunteer assignments are limited and will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. To request to volunteer, email epearce@gettysburgfoundation.org.
Remembrance Illumination is free and open to the public. (Event subject to weather conditions.)
