Wayne Smith (Hot Dog) – Guitar & Vocals
Wayne is a schooled musician in composition, theory, vocal harmony and many string instruments, all with a focus on blues, jazz, R&B and rock. Wayne has studied with many blues and jazz greats. He has taught members of Kix and Spiro Gyra to mention a few. While in California, he performed alongside of the Four Tops, The Temps, Herbie Hancock and the Tower of Power. You could say Wayne is Skatt-Daddy’s musical director.
Larry Dotson – Drums & Vocals
Larry brings his talent from Frederick, Maryland. At a young age his best friend, Steve, showed him the basics. He beat on cans until he was able to buy his first drum kit. He played with many local rock groups before moving to the West Coast where he played with national acts opening for the Barkays, Norman Connors and Ray Parker Jr. He then went on to drum for the Barkays. Larry brings his experience with the big stage to round out the rhythm foundation of Skatt Daddy.
Steve Starmer (T-Daddy-O) – Bass & Vocals
Steve is originally from New York where he began playing bass and formed his blues roots. He has toured and opened for well-known artists Dio, Judas Priest, Badfinger, Joe Perry and many more. Steve has worked with musicians associated with blues greats like, Gary Moore and Jack Bruce. Steve’s blues background and professional experience has enhanced his ability to play hard driving bass, which in part, is the foundation of Skatt-Daddy.
Aris Avelar – Keyboards
Aris is a self-taught musician that has been playing internationally for over 20 years. He began playing drums then moved to bass guitar, but mostly concentrated on refining his skills on the keyboard. He is originally from El Salvador, raised in the DMV. His passion for music has enticed him to expand his ability to various genres. He will defiantly bring a little touch of Latin groove to Skatt-Daddy."
Darrell Russ – Vocals
Darrell is a passionate, soulful male singer/ songwriter/recording artist. Versatile in styles ranging from R&B to blues, Darrell captivates audiences with his high-energy stage performance and deep, soulful singing. He has two album releases as well as appearing on compilation releases. Darrell has shared the stage with many greats including R&B singer Martha Wash, the Village People, as well as the late, great Donna Summer. Skatt-Daddy is proud to welcome him as the newest member of the band.
