Fridays on the Ridge – That Trimble is a Dangerous Man

From July to mid-August 1863, Confederate General Isaac Trimble received medical aid inside the Lutheran Seminary. The cantankerous 61-year-old division commander, who suffered a severe leg wound during Pickett’s Charge, carried a checkered past that raised immediate U.S. Army security concerns. His Unionist captors and caretakers frequently referred to him as “fierce-looking,” “wicked,” and “a dangerous man.”

Historian Codie Eash will explore the military career, medical treatment, and legal proceedings involving Trimble, who was the highest-ranking officer treated at the Seminary after the Battle of Gettysburg.

The event will be held at the Seminary Ridge Museum, Friday, October 30, at 3:30pm.
