The Gettysburg Remembrance Day Parade takes place Saturday, November 14, at 1:00 p.m. in downtown Gettysburg, PA. Marking its 70th year, this annual parade honors the soldiers and civilians of the Civil War while recognizing Gettysburg’s lasting place in American history.
Sponsored by the Sons of Veterans Reserve, the military department of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the parade starts on Middle Street, continues to Baltimore Street, and proceeds onto Steinwehr Avenue. Remembrance Day takes place each November on the weekend closest to the anniversary of President Abraham Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address.
As America marks its 250th anniversary, Gettysburg stands as one of the places that defined the nation. Born in Philadelphia, won at Yorktown, and saved at Gettysburg, the American story did not end with independence, and Remembrance Day offers a fitting time to reflect on the courage and sacrifice that preserved the Union.
