Hosted by the Gettysburg Nature Alliance & Gettysburg Heritage Center, this event is perfect for families with children. It’s free to attend and will be held at the Barn at Sachs Bridge, 720 Pumping Station Rd. Gettysburg, Pa. from 10 am – 2 pm.
Held in partnership with Adams County Trout Unlimited, we’re offering an exciting lineup of activities focused on fly fishing, environmental education, and wellness. Bring your kids for free lessons in fly-casting, fly-tying demonstrations, and informative walks on invasive species guided by Trout Unlimited experts.
While we celebrate the joy of fishing, it’s important to note that young women and girls are underrepresented in fly fishing. This event aims to create an inclusive space for them to explore this wonderful activity and break down barriers.
In addition to Trout Unlimited and the GNA, other organizations will be on site offering various programs and information. Explore the beauty of our chestnut tree grove with guided hikes by The American Chestnut Foundation. The Blue Ridge Summit Free Library will also be reading the book “Daniel Finds a Poem” and offer nature-themed activities for children. Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve will be offering engaging educational activities, and Julie Albert, yoga and meditation instructor from the Gettysburg Nature Alliance, will be teaching mini sessions on-site. The Land Conservancy of Adams County will host an informational booth about their organization and their role in the community.
