Into the Wild Frontier: Gettysburg’s Earliest Settlers

Before it was Gettysburg, this iconic landscape stood at the edge of the British Empire – a rugged and uncertain frontier. The region’s earliest European settlers faced border disputes, isolation, and the looming threat of violence during the French and Indian War, all while attempting to build homes, families, and communities. Join historian Tim Smith at the Dobbin House Tavern on Steinwehr Ave for a lively presentation about the Gettysburg area’s origin story.

This program will take place Tuesday, August 25th at 89 Steinwehr Avenue, Gettysburg. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 7 p.m.

The Historic Dobbin House built in 1776 also celebrates its 250th birthday in 2026.

Registration is required. The cost is $60 per person for dinner and the program. Program-only tickets are not available. Reserve your tickets here.
