Juneteenth | Allan Harris: From Spirituals to Soul—250 Years of Black Music
The Majestic Theater marks Juneteenth with a free community celebration honoring 250 years of Black music on June 20 at 5 p.m. The program features a Black-owned business pop-up market, performances by local artists, and a headlining appearance by acclaimed jazz vocalist Allan Harris.
This powerful musical journey traces the evolution of Black American music, beginning with spirituals and work songs and moving through the blues, jazz, gospel, soul, and contemporary sounds that continue to shape American culture. Audiences will experience a living story told through songs that carry history, resilience, creativity, and joy.
The event connects music, community, and cultural heritage in a meaningful Juneteenth program suited for all ages. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Guests may reserve tickets in advance through the Majestic Theater’s website or pick them up at the box office before or on the day of the event.
