Discover the artistry and history behind the Leaded Stained Glass Windows Tour at Trinity United Church of Christ in Gettysburg. Held every Friday at 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. through the warm-weather season until cold weather arrives, this guided program explores the church’s remarkable leaded stained glass windows installed during the building’s 1891 renovation.
Each tour highlights the symbolism woven into the window designs, explaining the meaning behind the artistic elements while sharing the stories of the Gettysburg community members memorialized in the glass. Visitors also learn about the donors who made each window possible and gain insight into the craftsmanship, installation, and ongoing preservation of these historic works of art.
The program connects local history, religious heritage, and architectural preservation, offering a deeper appreciation for one of Gettysburg’s notable historic churches. Educational commentary provides historical context about the individuals commemorated in the windows and their contributions to the community, making each tour both informative and engaging for history enthusiasts, architecture fans, and visitors exploring Adams County.
Tours take place at Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 East High Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
