Step back into the turbulent summer of 1863 with historian Tim Smith for this special walking tour of the Mary Thompson farm — the site of General Robert E. Lee’s headquarters from July 1 to 4, 1863.
This program will explore the history of the land and its various owners, including the neighboring properties of Casper Dustman and Alexander Riggs, as well as the intense fighting that raged across Seminary Ridge prior to its occupation by Confederate high command. Learn about Mary Thompson’s life and legacy, and the postwar debate over the home’s role as Lee’s headquarters.
The tour includes special access to the Thompson House, meticulously restored and preserved by the American Battlefield Trust.
$20/ACHS Members; $25/General Admission.
